IAABD is open to scholars, professionals, and students of any nationality who are interested or actively engaged in the teaching, research, performance or administration of business and economic development issues as they relate to Africa. Around 200 scholars, graduate students, and professionals from all over the world attend its annual conference.
Previous IAABD conferences have been hosted by prominent universities including University of Florida and Georgia State University in U.S.A, University of Westminster and London Metropolitan University in UK, University of Port Elizabeth in South Africa, University of Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania, University of Ghana in Ghana, Makerere University in Uganda, and University of Lagos in Nigeria.
